Escalator handling capacity calculations made easy!

As with all our apps this app provides the underlying maths and theory behind the calculations together with worked examples. This will allow you to not just get an answer, but more more importantly to understand how the answer was derived.


This simple App calculates the handling capacity of an escalator in accordance with EN115.

Upon providing the escalator’s Speed, Step Width, Step Depth, and People per Step the Application then provides the escalators Handling Capacity in ‘Persons per Minute’ and ‘Persons Per Hour’.

The escalators handling capacity is calculated based on the metric values provided in EN115. In addition imperial values as referenced in ASME A17.1 are provided where applicable.
